About Us
Welcome to Beauty by Mishaal – where heritage meets heart.
Let me take you behind the scenes and share the story that started it all.
As a first-generation Pakistani-American woman, I often found myself caught between two worlds. I longed for a space where my two cultures could coexist — where tradition met creativity, and self-expression felt authentic. Growing up, I was inspired by my mother, who would sit for hours hand-sewing beautiful Pakistani dresses. Watching her create such elegance from thread and fabric was like witnessing magic. Eventually, I started sewing too — blending Eastern and Western styles, designing dresses that felt like me. By high school, I was taking fashion courses and leading fashion shows at cultural events. It wasn’t just clothing anymore; it was identity, pride, and passion stitched together.
But living in Connecticut during those years wasn’t easy. It’s a beautiful state, but for South Asian women, it felt like a desert when it came to cultural fashion. If you needed a jhumka or a bridal set for a wedding, you had to drive two hours to New York. Holidays like Eid became stressful instead of joyful, not because we didn’t celebrate — but because we couldn’t find what we needed to feel our best. I remember going to chand raat melas and being completely mesmerized by the jewelry vendors — the sparkle, the intricate designs, the way they made you feel seen.
Then came 2020. Amidst the chaos of COVID, I made the spontaneous decision to push up my wedding. Everything came together — except for the jewelry. I ordered a set from Pakistan, and while it arrived on time, it wasn’t the one I had chosen. I smiled through it and wore it anyway. But inside, I remember that feeling — the helplessness of not having control over something so special. And in that moment, a fire was lit. No one else should have to feel that way — especially not on their big day.
That’s the moment Beauty by Mishaal was born. I stopped waiting for solutions and started becoming one.
Launching this business took a lot of courage, vulnerability, and trust in myself. But I did it for every South Asian girl who just wants to feel beautiful in her culture — without compromise. I built this for the brides, the sisters, the daughters, and the women who want to wear their heritage proudly, no matter where they live.
Thank you for being here. Thank you for supporting this dream.
This is more than a business — it’s a love letter to our culture, our community, and our confidence.
With love,
Mishaal
